CJPE's seminar on the Victims' Directive
The Criminal Justice Platform Europe (CJPE) expert's seminar on the implementation of the EU Victims Directivewill take place in Brussels on 23 February 2017. The event is organised by the EFRJ, in collaboration with Europris and the Confederation of European Probation. The focus will be on Art. 25 and 26, respectively on training of professionals and lay people and cooperation between services in order to provide better support and protection to victims of crime across Europe.
IFJR's conference on RJ in France
The EFRJ is co-organizing a conference on the implementation of RJ in the French system in Paris (18-19 January). The main organizer is the French Institute for Restorative Justice (IFJR). Our new Executive Director, Edit Törzs, will be present (as a plenary speaker) together with other staff and board members of the EFRJ.
Utopia: project with victims and prisoners
Prisoners and victims work together around the theme ‘Utopia- Between Action and Dream’, using different forms of arts to share personal stories. This project result in a series of activities taking place in the prison of Leuven (Belgium) in December 2016 and January 2017.
Film for raising awareness about VOM
Moderator (Flemish Mediation Service) is planning to make a short film to make victim-offender mediation better known in Belgium. They still need 5000 EUR for this and look for supporters. The non-profit consortium 'Restore:London' will deliver the first ever Pan London Restorative Justice Service, a victim-led approach to the provision of RJ across London. Victims of crime and offenders are asked to contribute to the research project by filling in two separate surveys on their RJ experiences. Both surveys are open until the end of December 2016 (a £15 voucher is offered to the first 80 people who complete the survey).
The International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP Europe) will organise a series of trainings in the UK and in Ireland between January and May 2017. The topics are: an introduction to restorative practices, using circles effectively and facilitating restorative conferences.
