Conference on social inclusion
The international conference on 'Social inclusion debate: strategies and dilemmas' (Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 1-2 March 2017) includes sessions on restorative practices for increasing school inclusiveness (with Vidia Negrea) and restorative practices in the field of child protection (with Robert van Pagee).
Conference on victims of crime
Few deadlines for attending the annual conference of Victim Support Europe (VSE) on ‘Victims of Crime: Rights, Needs & Responses’ (Dublin 17-18 May 2017): the early bird fee applies until 6 March; the call for proposals closes on 17 March!
Course on RJ practice
In early March a course on Restorative Justice Practice will start at Victoria University (New Zealand), with an online-platform for distance students. Lectures will be given by researchers and practitioners in the field.
The final conference of the MARGIN project, a research addressing the topic of insecurity in marginalised areas, will take place in Budapest on 3-5 April. A relevant panel for our RJ community is 'Institutional perspectives on crime prevention and restorative justice' on the second conference day.
Introductory restorative practice workshop
Facing Forward is organising a one day training introducing Restorative Practice (Dublin 29 March). This will be good preparation for those wishing to do a three day intensive course on 3-5 May 2017. For more info and registrations contact email@example.com.
Position paper on victims of elder abuse
On the occasion of the European Day for Victims of Crime (22 Feb), AGE Platform Europe published a position paper on the protection of victims of elder abuse, referring to the implementation of the Victims' Directive. AGE’s work around elder abuse has focused on prevention, calling for a rights-based approach to the care of older persons in need of assistance and support.
UN manual on extremism in prison
The new United Nations manual to address management of violent extremists in prison settings includes a (small) section on the reintegration of prisoners and the role of victims and communities.
